The Evolution of martial arts and the mother of all martial arts

The Evolution of martial arts and the mother of all martial arts

This martial art called Kalaripattu is known as the mother of all martial arts. This martial art originates from the Indian state of Kerala. So why is this called the mother of all martial arts? Because all martial arts are rooted in this martial art. Although all martial arts are mentioned, many martial arts have nothing to do with kalaripattu. But this Kalaripattu martial art has some relation to all the modern martial arts. So today we will see what this story is about.

When we say martial arts, we think of things like boxing, karate and kung fu. Most of these martial arts originated in Asia. So most of these martial arts are broadcast from the Shaolin temple in China. So that's where the story begins. The temple called Shaolin was started by a monk named Bodhidharma who came from India. He comes to China for preaching buddhism. Many Asian martial arts are based on Buddhist philosophy. The reason for that is the propaganda itself. So how did Bodhidharma Thero, who came to China to propagate Buddhism, create these martial arts. This is how it happens. With the spread of Buddhism in India, the kings who lived in India sent monks to spread the Dharma to the surrounding countries. That is why many countries have received Buddhism even today. Even later, the Indian monks traveled to neighboring countries to propagate the Dharma. So it is said that this Bodhidharma thero is someone who came from India to China to preach the Dharma. So these Bodhidharma thero came to China and later built a temple. This temple is the Shaolin Temple. It is in this temple that Bodhidharma Thero teaches his students Dharma matters. So when this time passed, Bodhidharma Thero taught his students a new method of meditation. This method of meditation is to calm the mind by observing the behavior of animals and manipulating one's body in that way. In this way, the meditation created through the behavior of animals later became a physical exercise. So later, the new students who came to this Shaolin Temple created a martial art by combining an ancient Chinese martial art called Wan Wushu with these animal imitations. That is what we see today as the kung fu that was later developed. So Bodhidharma Thero, who taught these animal imitations to Chinese students, is said to have studied Kalaripattu martial arts in India. Therefore, it is said that this martial art called Kungfu may have been inspired by this Kalaripattu martial art. And kung fu is a martial art with great content. So after that, this martial art called Kung Fu became the basis for many martial arts that emerged around the world. In the later years, various styles have been added to this kung fu martial art. Wingchun martial art is a one of these styles. So there is no one who does not know Master Yip Man, who mastered Wingchun style very well. You may have heard about Bruce Lee who became his disciple, and the martial art called Jitkundo, which was created by combining 14 other martial arts. So this martial art called Jitkundo was also based on the martial art called Kungfu. Also, Kung Fu was created in the Shaolin Temple and spread outside the Shaolin Temple. After that, the martial art of kung fu was also in the hands of the fishing people of China. To protect themselves from external dangers, Chinese fishermen practiced kung fu martial arts. But the kung fu that the fishermen practiced was slightly different from Shaolin kung fu. Later, the martial art learned by these Chinese fishermen was called Kempo.

So after this time, this martial art goes to Japan from the hands of Chinese fishermen. Fishermen on the Japanese island of Okinawa learn this martial art from the Chinese. Later, Okinawa Tei was a combination of the Chinese kempo martial arts and the ancient martial arts of the Okinawans. After that, this martial art spread to Japan. The Japanese modified Okinawa a little and created the martial art called Karate. So now you understand how the Kung Fu martial art created by Bodhidharma Thera, who mastered the Kalaripattu martial art in India, was the basis for many martial arts created later.

Here, Kalaripattu is known as the mother of all martial arts in the world, because Kung Fu martial art, which led to the creation of many martial arts, was created based on Kalaripattu. But there are many martial arts all over the world that are not related to any of the martial arts of Kalaripattu or Kung Fu. Mainly fighting methods like Muay Thai, Capuera, Boxing, Silat, Kali, Wrestling can be introduced.
